Scarf – from the Butterfly Wings series woven in fine supima cotton (SOLD)

This scarf is one of 2 scarves from my ‘Butterfly Wings’ series that had the warp section dyed a combination of leaf green, deep purple, royal blue, aqua, and turquoise (There is no ‘old’ gold colour in this warp). The weft was hand dyed a combination of royal blue and dark blue. Both fibres were hand dyed prior to the scarf being woven. The ends of the scarf have an elegant twisted fringe finish.
The pattern that this scarf is woven in produces alternating areas in the cloth that are either warp or weft emphasized which gives a interesting visual effect to the scarf. This effect is acccentuated by the contrast of the sheen of the silk warp and the more matte characteristic of the supima cotton.
