Scarf – from the Butterfly Wings series woven in fine silk (SOLD)

This scarf is one of 2 scarves from my ‘Butterfly Wings’ series that had the warp section dyed a combination of old gold, leaf green, deep purple, royal blue, aqua, and turquoise. The weft was hand dyed navy blue. This is the only one of the two scaves in this warp colourway that has a fine 100% mulberry silk fibre for both warp and weft. Both fibres were hand dyed prior to the scarf being woven. The ends of the scarf have an elegant twisted fringe finish.
This scarf is woven in pattern that produces alternating areas in the cloth that are either warp or weft emphasized which gives a interesting visual effect to the scarf. The cloth has a marvelous sheen that is characteristic of silk woven cloth.
